A familiar voice no longer proves who's calling.

A grandfather picked up the phone. His brother was on the line, scared and begging for money. It wasn't his brother. It was a deepfake voice scam, a computer copy of a voice he loved.
A familiar voice no longer proves who's calling.
According to TechCrunch, his granddaughter, Tarini Padmanabhuni, started a company called DetectifAI to fight back. These fakes need just three to five seconds of audio. One report says the scams now work one time in three, up from one in eight. For fraud teams, a voice on a call is no longer proof.
Pick a family safe word tonight. The scam doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs you to panic.
If a voice can't prove who you are, websites want something harder.
You open a website you've used for years. Today it wants your driver's license or a selfie. We now have twenty-nine age verification law states, and each one wrote its own rules. To find the kids, a site has to check every adult.
Proving your age can tie your name to everything you read.
According to CNBC, Discord told users about a breach. The hack came through an outside vendor, not Discord itself. About seventy thousand people had their I.D. photos exposed. Seventy thousand I.D.s. All collected to keep people safe. For security teams, every pile of I.D.s is a target.
Before you upload your face, ask who keeps it. And for how long.
Now one country is pointing that check at every child.
Picture a fourteen-year-old tapping 'I'm eighteen' to open an app. In the U.A.E., that trick is over. New social media age restrictions there bar every child under fifteen. Apps can't <phoneme alphabet="ipa" ph="juːz">use</phoneme> the birthday box anymore.
Apps must now prove age, not just ask for it.
According to Emirates Twenty-Four Seven, there are four approved checks. A government digital I.D. An I.D. card scan. That scan plus a face match. Or software that guesses age from a face. TikTok, Instagram and others have twelve months to comply. Global apps rarely run one system per country, so this may spread.
Four doors, four prices. Know what each one takes before your kid taps continue.
A voice, a license, a child's face. Each story asks one question. How do you prove who someone is? Fakes broke the old proof. So the new proof asks for more of you. Who guards it is the real story.
