Roblox Face Scan: Predators Rarely

A grown man could be texting your daughter. An 18-year-old met a 14-year-old girl playing Roblox. He moved her onto other apps. Roblox's new face scan only guards the chat door. His grooming moved to apps no Roblox scan can see. By the end, you'll know who's talking to her. Who's messaging your child right now?
Carlo Tritta was 18 when they met, in 2024. They met long before Roblox required a face scan for chat.
The BBC says they met in a Roblox game. She told Tritta she was 15. Tritta moved their chats to WhatsApp and Snapchat.
In December 2024, she admitted she was 14. The judge said Tritta knew early she was under 16.
Tritta sent takeout food to her home. He also sent her a secret phone. You can't check a phone you never bought.
Tritta told her he loved her.
In August 2025, the girl's mother saw a message. The message was on her daughter's phone. That message is how it came out.
Police say she thought it was a loving relationship. Officers say it was built on pressure and control.
Tritta then traveled hundreds of miles to her home. He made that trip twice. Tritta went there to make her drop the case.
Tritta admitted making indecent images of a child. In April 2026, a Manchester court jailed him for 28 months.

Today, Roblox wants a face scan before chat. Roblox gets a guessed age, not a name.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children counts Roblox reports. The center logged 675 in 2019. The center logged 24,522 in 2024. Roblox had no face-scan chat gate yet.
Police in England and Wales see this too. ITV News counted more than 660 Roblox-linked reports in 2025. Those police reports rose 87%.
Predators find children in public servers and shared games. Next, predators pull those children onto other apps.
In lab tests, researchers fooled age-guessing programs, not Roblox's scan. A child could be guessed older than she is.
Roblox announced chat face scans in November 2025. Scans became required worldwide in January 2026. Roblox calls it safety, but the scan reads no chats.
Roblox checks her face once, at the door. Grooming happens in the chats after that. Grooming works by talking, not fooling cameras. After hello, you're the one who checks.
Tonight at dinner, ask your child one question. Ask if anyone from a game asked to chat elsewhere.
Ask her who each game friend really is. Look for any phone or gift you didn't buy. Turn off chat with people she doesn't know.
Roblox checks her age one time. You can check who she talks to anytime.
Grooming starts with kind words in public chat. Then the talk goes private, then to calls. Next come secrets, and she's cut off. Last, the stranger plans to meet her.
The CaraComp write-up goes deeper on this. CaraComp's checklist starts with her friends list.
Cara Candelario wrote that guide, and she's blunt. She says the scan sorts people by age. The scan doesn't screen anyone out.
Make a rule: chats never move to other apps. A gift from a game friend is a warning. If an adult asks for photos, call the police.
The Digital Watchtower cited one gaming study. Risky grooming can start within 19 seconds. The figure is rough, but grooming moves fast.
Roblox's face scan guesses her age, not her friends. The danger is real, and you can see it.
Tonight, pick one game friend you don't know. Ask where else that person talks to her. If it's another app, that chat ends tonight.
Nobody warns you when a stranger moves her chats. Ask her tonight who's messaging her, and you'll know.
