Your phone rings at 9 at night. Your boss is on the screen. The face moves right. The voice sounds right. The pauses land right. You wire the money. The call was never your boss. A deepfake, an AI-made fake video, fooled you. Singapore's central bank says this is now a system risk. One fake call cost one firm $25 million.

$25 Million Gone ▶ 0:00

That Hong Kong firm wired $25 million. One video call did it. Hold that number in your head.

A scammer builds a fake face from public video. That face runs live on a call. Your colleague sees a boss, not a stranger. The money moves before anyone checks.

Singapore had its own case. That case lost $499,000. The fake call looked fully real.

How the Fake Works ▶ 0:28

You trust a face on a screen. That face can now be faked live. A stranger built it from public clips. Your money is the target.

This is not a tech flaw. It is a people flaw.

Before October 2025, banks had no deepfake rules. In October 2025, Singapore's Monetary Authority, the country's central bank, added new safeguards. By September 2026, MAS told Parliament losses had fallen. The scams still keep changing.

Why It Works ▶ 0:50

Cyble reported the joint police and bank advisory. Fake CEO calls are a named threat. Scammers copy face, voice, and manner.

The AI copies your boss's face. It copies the voice and the accent. It copies small pauses and gestures. Every detail is built to fool you.

400 companies a day face fake CEO calls. 80% have no plan. Your firm may be next.

What the Fake Copies ▶ 1:15

If this helps, a like and a subscribe help us keep it coming.

No one hacks the bank server. Scammers hack your manners instead.

A coin flip catches fakes 50% of the time. Trained humans catch deepfakes only 24.5% of the time. That gap is where the money goes. A coin beats the expert. Your eyes are not enough.

Coin Flip Versus Expert ▶ 1:36

In the first half of 2025, deepfake fraud losses hit $410 million globally. By 2027, that figure may reach $40 billion a year. The line still climbs today.

A fake voice asks your adult child for bail money. A fake face texts your spouse from your account. Scammers now target families too.

Some single deepfake cases now top $680,000. That is one call. One transfer.

Not Just the Boss ▶ 1:59

OpenGov Asia broke this story on September 9, 2026. The OpenGov Asia report names every safeguard MAS added. No detail here is guessed. Every line comes from that report.

You thought a live video call was proof. A live call felt safer than a text. But real-time deepfakes run live too. Seeing the face was never proof. The one check a deepfake cannot beat is a code word said on a second, separate call.

You can act before the next call comes. One step, tonight, costs nothing.

The Turn ▶ 2:22

So what do you do right now? Pick a code word with your spouse and adult kids. Never send money without hearing that word. Use a second phone call to confirm it.

A stolen card number gets canceled in 1 day. A stolen face cannot be changed, ever. Your card is one lock. Your face is a lock you cannot reset.

Step one: agree on a code word today. Step two: any money request triggers the code check. Step three: call back on a number you already saved. Step four: no code word means no transfer. Step five: report the fake call to police right away.

Singapore's Monetary Authority called for a layered fix. No single tool stops a deepfake. Banks, police, and the public must all act.

Do these three things this week. Check every saved contact number is real. Tell your family what a deepfake voice call is. Set a code word before the next call comes.

More on This Breach ▶ 3:07

AI scam reports rose 456% between May 2024 and April 2025. That is nearly 5 times in 12 months. The count is not slowing down.

One fake call can cost millions. A code word on a second call stops it. Your voice check is free tonight.

Open your phone contacts right now. Find the number your boss or bank uses. Call that saved number, not the one on the screen. Hear the code word before you move any money.

456% More Scams ▶ 3:31

A fake call can look real. A code word on a second call cannot be faked. Set it tonight.
