But A.I. learned to blink naturally — and now the people who trained themselves on that one tell are more vulnerable, not less. They see realistic blinking and think, "This must be authentic." The blinking trap is a textbook false negative. That's when you fail to flag something fake because your mental checklist says it passed. One algorithm called MISLnet identified A.I.-generated videos correctly ninety-eight point three percent of the time, beating eight other systems that each scored above ninety-three percent. But MISLnet works because it's trained on the structural patterns of how generative A.I. builds video — not on individual artifacts like blinking. It's looking for the fingerprint of the creation process itself.
